The ultimate rejection for the ultimate acceptance

Image
It's quite bizarre the whole cross situation. Why anyone would willingly die for the sake of mankind. Even pilate deemed him innocent. Yet the life of christ was on the line of the yearly tradition the Jews came a custom to. The Roman governor would set free one prisoner of there choice. This guy knew they wanted him dead out of sheer jealousy yet out of fear of riots he washed his hands of Jesus's death and let them get on with it. Matthew 27 verse 24 New International Version When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!" It doesn't matter how many times you read the gospels it doesn't make it any easier to wrap your head around why jesus would do such a thing, knowing exactly what was to happen to him. Yet instead of looking through the small key hole that would be ...

Hope is found

Luke 2:10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people" Hope the anchor for our soul I never had a true appreciation for the nativity scene that is Christmas until recent years, this year in particular. I knew exactly how the story went, but never really took the time to get to know the one it's about. Yet in doing so, marked the greatest adventure of my life. You see Jesus isn't just some random guy the Roman's killed one day. He gave up everything that was his Godly power and came down to earth to live a life of serving not a life of honor. You see this whole testimony of Jesus is exciting because I don't believe people truly comprehend what he did. Picture it. A King, when you think of the word King, where does your mind take you. Here's what I've got: a palace, huge banquets, expensive jewels, clean and properly dressed. But not this King. No. This King, although he deser...

Good news

The barrabas is us all Matthew 27: 15-23 15  Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner  chosen by the crowd.   16  At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus [ a ]  Barabbas.   17  So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”   18  For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him. 19  While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat,  his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent  man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream  because of him.” 20  But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed. 21  “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered. 22  “What shall I do,...

Catch the adversary in the act....

Have you ever (while reading the bible that is) just thought to yourself wow I wish I could have faith like that, boldness like that, to be closely connected to God like that.  Or maybe in everyday life you see something in someone that you admire and wish you could be like that, or wish you had that. To which you find yourself comparing yourself to others. Then in every day life when what seems like a mountain of a problem comes: whether that be fear, anxiety, depression or so on we are immediately distracted by the sheer force of it and forget to look up to the God of the heavens and the earth. Who to which is far bigger, far stronger and far greater than any issue we could ever come across. Does that stop them from coming... no. But it can, if we allow it to help us to overcome any situation sent to cause destruction in our lives.  Think about it: what are those mountains that weigh heavy on your shoulders? What is or where is the main area the enemy (devil) atta...

Grace instead of judgement

Image
It's a on going debate to whether we as humans should judge people or not. (I say the word 'people' because the conversation involves judging Christians and non Christians alike). I would normally just brush this topic off my mind, and get on with life. But this time my whole being got frustrated. I couldn't budge it from my mind. So I took the opportunity to dig deeper, and look into the definition of judgement and judging others. Which I've never done before. And too my surprise, the answer I got was.. Definition of judgement  -discernment, awareness, perception and so on Definition of judging someone - to quickly form a bias and/or personal opinion about someone or something.  Bear this in mind as we go on with the rest of this blog. While pondering on the whole idea of judging others and making a judgement to whether one is going to heaven or hell, God brought to my attention the word 'Grace' so I accepted the chance to study grace and did som...

I can only imagine...

Image
Who is Jesus?? As I'm trying to focus my whole being on who Jesus is to me. I can not get that song 'I can only imagine' from MercyMe out of my mind. This song fills me with peace and his wonder, I think that's the right word to describe the glorious moment that surrounds my being as I listen to the song, it's like as though I'm there with him. Which in turn reminds me of a sore moment from my childhood. I know it makes no sense but it will. You see, as I contemplated who this Jesus is, especially to me. I was reminded of a particular moment in my childhood, and how he showed me he would never leave me. On this occasion God was encouraging me to open up to a particular adult and confess that I had slept with my ex. I immediately thought this is nuts, what has it got to do with her.. and to this day I don't understand why I needed to tell her, but that is Gods problem not mine. Anyway, I finally bottled up the nerve to do so, and I expected the vol...

It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last

Trust in God.. What does this (trusting God) mean to you? What does it look like to trust someone? Let alone a being in the heavens that we can't see. You often hear Christians in times of trouble say 'trust God' and although that is some sound advice, it's not very practical when you don't know how. Trusting God isn't something that happens over night, it takes time, it's a process, a walk God takes us on so we can learn how to trust him with everything in our life. To reach a point in life where we can just say its God problem not mine; without anxiety and fear pushing through our fleshly walls into our heart and mind. I am in no way saying here I have it all together, but what I can say, is, as the walk takes place, is does get a lot easier to trust God. The best thing is, is he has so much grace, patience and mercy for us, he allows us to go at a pace we can relate to, until we get to a place we can be stretched into a deeper level of understanding ...

Fighting forgiveness

Image
"Your not stuck because you don't know how to forgive, your stuck because you dont want too" (quote taken from the movie The Shack) Have you ever been given these words. It's a true reality for many of us. The bible says we must forgive, but our whole being really doesn't want too. Why should we forgive? Why should they get away with it? I want them to hurt like they made me hurt. Any of these ring a bell. At some point in our lives, or maybe its every day we are faced with the battle of the need to forgive. Forgiveness isn't easy, but when our issues are compared to the ultimate sacrifice Jesus took on so we could be forgiven for all the hidden sins we've made in our lives. You'd think why do I have such a big issue. But that's the thing, we do find it hard. Because the whole situation of forgiveness is beyond us. We need the help of Jesus to overcome the pain we've encountered. He is and will always be the only one that can make it poss...
